How it works

How to compress an image to a specific size

Click “Select images”, drop them anywhere on the page, or paste with Ctrl+V. Up to 30 at once.

  2. 02

    Choose the size

Type the size you need in KB or MB, or tap a common one like 100 KB or 1 MB. Pick a format if you need one.

  3. 03

    Compress and download

Press Compress, check the new sizes, then download each image or all of them as a ZIP.

Why this tool

Small files, without the trade-offs.

  • Hits the size you choose

Type any size in KB or MB. We search for the best quality that lands just under it — not a rough guess.

  • Stays on your device

Everything happens in your browser. Nothing is uploaded unless you choose to save a result to your private Library.

  • Quality first

Quality is reduced before dimensions, and only as much as needed. Photos stay crisp at sizes you’d expect to look rough.

  • JPG, PNG, WebP & more

Keep the format or convert while you compress. Transparent PNGs keep their transparency as WebP.

  • Batch and ZIP

Work on up to 30 images in one go and download them all as a single ZIP file.

  • Free, no sign-up

No account, no watermark, no daily limit. Open the page and get going.

FAQ

Questions, answered.

Everything about compressing images to a set size.

How do I compress an image to a specific size like 100 KB?

Select or drop your images, type the size you need in KB or MB, and press Compress. Each image is re-encoded at the highest quality that still fits, then you can download them one by one or as a ZIP.

Are my images uploaded to a server?

No. Everything runs in your browser on your own device. Images are only uploaded if you press “Save to Library” — and then they’re stored privately in your account, where only you can see them.

Will compressing reduce the quality?

We lower the JPG or WebP quality only as far as needed to hit your size, so most photos look the same. If a size is very small for a large photo, we also reduce the dimensions, because a smaller sharp image looks better than a full-size blurry one.

Which image formats are supported?

JPG, PNG, WebP, GIF, BMP and AVIF, plus HEIC on browsers that can open it (like Safari). You can keep the original format or convert to JPG, WebP or PNG while compressing.

Why is my image still bigger than the size I chose?

Very small targets — for example 10 KB for a large photo — sometimes can’t be reached even after shrinking. In that case we give you the smallest version we could make and mark it, so you can try a larger size or crop the image first.

Is 1 MB 1000 KB or 1024 KB?

We use 1 MB = 1024 KB and 1 KB = 1024 bytes, the same as Windows and most upload forms, so a file we make for “200 KB” will pass a 200 KB limit.

Can I keep the results in my dropNudge Library?

Yes. When your images are ready, press “Save to Library”, sign in with your email (it opens in a small window, so your work stays put) and pick a folder. Saved images are private, kept until you delete them, and count towards your 50 GB of storage.

Is it free?

Yes. There’s no sign-up, no watermark and no daily limit — use it as often as you like.

Need to send it?

Share your images — or any file up to 6 GB — with a link. No account needed.
